【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항테크노파크(원장 송경창)와 한국인공지능기술산업협회(회장 이원찬)는 4월 2일 포항TP 경북AI혁신본부 AX랩에서 ‘경북지역 인공지능 기술 및 산업 발전을 위한 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 양 기관이 보유한 전문성과 네트워크를 바탕으로 지역 제조업과 신산업 분야에 인공지능(AI) 기술 확산을 촉진하고, 산업 생태계 경쟁력을 강화하기 위해 추진됐다.
포항TP는 경북AI혁신본부를 중심으로 지역 산업의 AI 전환을 지원하는 다양한 사업을 수행하고 있으며, 이번 협약을 계기로 보다 체계적인 협력 기반을 구축하게 됐다.
양 기관은 협약에 따라 ▲AI 기술 및 산업 관련 교류 ▲공동사업 발굴 및 추진 ▲홍보·캠페인·전시 협력 ▲정책 연구 및 정보 교류 ▲AI 데이터팩토리 구축 및 활용 등 다각적인 협력 사업을 공동 추진할 계획이다.
특히 제조업 현장을 중심으로 한 AI 실증 확대와 정책 연구 협력, 스타트업 지원 등 실질적인 협력 과제를 지속 발굴해 나가며, 지역 기업의 AI 활용 역량 제고와 경북지역 AI 산업 경쟁력 강화에 집중할 방침이다.
송경창 원장은 “이번 협약은 경북지역 AI 산업 생태계 조성과 기업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 중요한 출발점”이라며 “포항TP의 현장 실증 역량과 협회의 산업 네트워크를 연계해 지역 기업의 AI 도입과 산업 혁신을 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Pohang Technopark (President Song Gyeong-chang) and the Korea Artificial Intelligence Industry Association (President Lee Won-chan) announced that they signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technology and Industry in the Gyeongbuk Region" at the AX Lab of the Gyeongbuk AI Innovation Headquarters at Pohang Technopark on April 2.
This agreement was pursued to promote the diffusion of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the local manufacturing and new industry sectors, and to strengthen the competitiveness of the industrial ecosystem, based on the expertise and networks possessed by both organizations.
Pohang Technopark, centered around the Gyeongbuk AI Innovation Headquarters, is carrying out various projects to support the AI transition of local industries, and this agreement serves as a catalyst to establish a more systematic foundation for cooperation.
Under the agreement, both organizations plan to jointly pursue multifaceted cooperative projects, including: exchanges regarding AI technology and industry; identification and implementation of joint projects; cooperation in promotion, campaigns, and exhibitions; policy research and information exchange; and the establishment and utilization of an AI data factory. The plan is to focus on enhancing the AI utilization capabilities of local companies and strengthening the competitiveness of the AI industry in the Gyeongbuk region by continuously identifying practical cooperation tasks, such as expanding AI demonstrations centered on manufacturing sites, collaborating on policy research, and supporting startups.
Director Song Kyung-chang stated, “This agreement marks an important starting point for creating an AI industry ecosystem and strengthening corporate competitiveness in the Gyeongbuk region,” adding, “We will actively support the adoption of AI and industrial innovation by local companies by linking Pohang TP’s field demonstration capabilities with the association’s industrial network.”
