[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산을 대표하는 국제 아트페어 ‘제15회 2026 부산국제화랑아트페어(BAMA)’가 4월 2일 벡스코 제1전시장에서 개막해 5일까지 나흘간 진행된다.
사단법인 부산화랑협회(회장 채민정, BAMA운영위원장)가 주최하는 이번 행사는 15주년을 맞아 규모와 내용 면에서 한층 확장된 모습을 보이며 아시아 미술시장의 핵심 플랫폼으로의 도약을 선언했다.
136개 갤러리 참여…국내외 미술시장 연결하는 장
올해 BAMA에는 엄격한 심사를 거친 국내외 136개 갤러리가 참가하고 약 4,000여 점의 작품이 전시된다. 이화익갤러리, 금산갤러리, 갤러리신라, 가이아갤러리, 갤러리 위 등 국내 주요 화랑과 함께 프랑스, 독일, 대만, 말레이시아, 미국 등 8개국 13개 해외 갤러리가 참여해 국제적 위상을 강화했다.
또한 피카소갤러리, 스페이스나무오로라갤러리, 갤러리포, 이듬갤러리, 갤러리데이트, 화인갤러리, 조이갤러리, 갤러리아트숲 등 부산·경남 지역 갤러리들이 대거 참여해 지역 미술계의 저력을 보여준다.

‘NODE’ 주제…로컬과 글로벌 잇는 예술의 교차점
2026 BAMA의 주제는 ‘노드(NODE): 연결과 확장의 마디’다. 네트워크에서 개별 요소들이 만나는 지점을 의미하는 ‘노드’ 개념을 통해, 아트페어를 단순한 작품 거래 공간이 아닌 예술적 담론과 에너지가 생성되고 확장되는 플랫폼으로 재정의했다.
이번 행사는 지역성과 세계성이 교차하는 지점을 탐색하며 회화, 조각, 설치, 미디어아트 등 다양한 장르를 하나의 흐름 속에서 유기적으로 연결한다.
청년작가전…미래 미술 생태계 ‘핵심 노드’ 육성
특별전 ‘생동하는 노드: 2030의 맥박’은 지역 청년 작가들의 성장과 시장 진입을 지원하는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 수도권 중심 구조 속에서 상대적으로 기회가 제한된 신진 작가들을 발굴하고, 이들을 미래 예술 생태계의 핵심 동력으로 육성하려는 취지다.

이민걸, 이현도, 백나원, 유재희, 원몬, 이소정, 정미나, 이은우, 김소형, 김희영, 황정원, 최설지, 강동윤, 안영주, 천지미, 한수영 등 16명의 작가가 참여해 실험성과 창의성을 선보인다. BAMA는 이들을 위한 프로모션과 컬렉터 매칭을 통해 실질적인 시장 진입 기반을 마련한다는 계획이다.
설치·조각전…전시장 전체를 하나의 ‘네트워크’로
‘노드: 공간의 교차’ 전시는 기존 아트페어의 평면 중심 구조를 넘어 공간 확장형 전시 방식을 제안한다. 전시장 곳곳의 유휴 공간과 동선을 활용해 조각과 설치 작품을 배치함으로써 관람객, 작품, 공간이 상호작용하는 몰입형 전시 경험을 제공한다.
최은정, 노동식, 이후창, 정희욱, 이성은 작가가 참여하며 전시장 전체를 하나의 유기적 네트워크로 연결하는 새로운 전시 패러다임을 제시한다.

15주년 아카이브전…지역 미술사의 기록과 미래 설계
‘BAMA 15: Re-connecting the Future’ 아카이브전은 2012년부터 이어진 BAMA의 15년 역사를 체계적으로 조망한다. 단순한 회고를 넘어 지역 미술 생태계의 성장 과정을 공공 기록 자산으로 축적하고, 이를 기반으로 미래 비전을 설계하는 데 목적이 있다.
인터랙티브 요소를 도입해 관람객이 과거와 현재, 미래를 연결하는 경험을 제공하며, BAMA를 세대와 시대를 잇는 플랫폼으로 확장한다.
아트토크·도슨트 프로그램…지식과 관람 경험 확장
‘BAMA+ NODE’ 아트토크 프로그램은 국내외 미술 전문가들이 참여해 디지털 전환, 세대 교체, 미술시장 구조 등 주요 이슈를 중심으로 담론을 형성한다. 이를 통해 정책적 비전과 시장 전략이 교차하는 지식 공유 플랫폼으로서의 역할을 강화한다.

또한 도슨트 프로그램 ‘NODE : 도슨트’는 관람객을전시의 적극적 참여자로 확장시키고, 미술 감상의 문턱을 낮추는 데 기여한다. 이는 잠재적 컬렉터 발굴과 관람객 저변 확대를 동시에 도모하는 장치로 작용한다.

채민정 부산화랑협회 회장은 “15주년을 맞은 BAMA는 아시아 미술시장 속에서 중요한 ‘노드’로 자리매김했다”며 “작가와 컬렉터, 공간과 예술이 유기적으로 연결되는 플랫폼을 통해 새로운 미적 가치를 창출할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
15년의 축적을 바탕으로 한 BAMA 2026은 단순한 아트페어를 넘어 지역과 세계를 연결하는 예술 네트워크의 중심지로 진화하고 있다. 이번 행사는 부산이 글로벌 미술시장에서 차지하는 위상을 다시 한 번 확인하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

BUSAN, South Korea — The 15th Busan International Art Fair (BAMA) opened on April 2 at BEXCO, where it will run through April 5, marking a significant milestone for one of the region’s leading contemporary art events. Organized by the Busan Gallery Association and led by Chair Chae Min-jung, this year’s edition signals an expanded vision as it positions itself as a key hub in the Asian art market.
136 Galleries Bridge Local and Global Art Markets
This year’s fair brings together 136 galleries selected through a rigorous screening process, presenting approximately 4,000 works. Major Korean galleries—including Lee Hwa-ik Gallery, Keumsan Gallery, Gallery Shilla, Gaia Gallery, and Gallery We—are joined by 13 international galleries from eight countries, including France, Germany, Taiwan, Malaysia, and the United States.
A strong presence of galleries from the Busan and Gyeongnam regions further underscores the vitality of the local art ecosystem, highlighting its growing role within the broader international art scene.

“NODE” Theme Explores Intersections of Art and Networks
The central theme of BAMA 2026, “NODE: The Intersection of Connection and Expansion,” reimagines the art fair as more than a marketplace. Drawing from the concept of nodes in a network—points where connections converge and expand—the fair positions itself as a dynamic platform where artistic ideas, cultural exchange, and market forces intersect.
Through this framework, the event brings together locality and globality, presenting a diverse spectrum of contemporary art including painting, sculpture, installation, and media art in an interconnected curatorial flow.
Emerging Artists Spotlighted as Future “Nodes”
The special exhibition “Vibrant Node: The Pulse of 2030” focuses on emerging artists, particularly those from regions outside the Seoul metropolitan area. Featuring 16 artists, the exhibition aims to strengthen the sustainability of young practitioners and support their entry into the art market.
By combining promotional initiatives with collector engagement opportunities, BAMA seeks to establish a practical platform that nurtures the next generation of artists while encouraging experimentation and cross-generational dialogue.
Spatial Installations Transform the Exhibition Experience
“Node: Spatial Intersection” departs from conventional booth-centered presentations by activating transitional and open spaces throughout the venue. Sculptural and installation works are strategically placed along visitor pathways, creating an immersive environment where space, artwork, and audience interact organically.
This approach not only diversifies the media presented at the fair but also transforms the entire venue into a cohesive artistic network.
15th Anniversary Archive Traces Past and Future
The archival exhibition “BAMA 15: Re-connecting the Future” offers a comprehensive overview of the fair’s evolution since its inception in 2012. Moving beyond a retrospective format, the exhibition seeks to document the development of the regional art ecosystem as a public cultural asset while proposing a forward-looking vision.
Interactive elements allow visitors to engage with the fair’s history, reinforcing BAMA’s role as a platform that connects generations and anticipates future trajectories.
Art Talks and Docent Programs Expand Engagement
The “BAMA+ NODE” talk program convenes leading figures from the art world to discuss pressing issues such as digital transformation, generational change, and shifts in the global art market. These discussions aim to foster a shared intellectual framework that bridges policy, practice, and market strategy.
Meanwhile, the “NODE: Docent” program enhances accessibility by encouraging active audience participation and lowering barriers to art appreciation. It also contributes to cultivating new collectors and expanding the fair’s audience base.

Chae Min-jung, Chair of the Busan Gallery Association, stated that “BAMA has established itself as a significant node within the Asian art market over the past 15 years,” adding that “this year’s edition demonstrates how artists, collectors, spaces, and ideas can be organically connected to generate new aesthetic value.”
Building on 15 years of accumulated experience, BAMA 2026 continues to evolve beyond a conventional art fair, positioning itself as a central platform linking regional identity with global contemporary art.
