4월 지구의 날 기념해 ‘지구를 반짝여요’ 운영...바다유리 업사이클링 체험
5~8세 아동 대상 선착순 모집, 11월까지 총 15회 탄소중립 프로그램 이어가
대전 대덕구가 4월 지구의 날을 맞아 고사리손으로 환경을 지키는 특별한 체험 프로그램 ‘지구를 반짝여요’를 선보인다.
딱딱하게 느껴질 수 있는 탄소중립이라는 개념을 아이들이 좋아하는 만들기 활동으로 풀어낸 점이 눈길을 끈다.
오는 7일과 22일 대덕탄소중립생활실천센터에서 열리는 이번 행사에서 5세부터 8세까지의 어린이 10명은 이 바다유리를 활용해 자신만의 무드등을 직접 제작한다. 아이들은 재활용품으로 새로운 물건을 만드는 과정에 참여하며, 자원순환과 탄소 배출 저감의 중요성을 자연스럽게 체득하게 될 것으로 보인다.
한편, 대덕구는 지구 환경의 소중함을 일깨우는 맞춤형 환경 교육도 병행한다. 어릴 때부터 탄소중립을 생활 습관으로 받아들일 수 있도록 유도하겠다는 복안이다.
센터 관계자는 아이들이 환경보호의 중요성을 흥미롭게 배우고, 작은 실천이 지구를 살리는 큰 힘이 된다는 것을 깨달았으면 좋겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
구는 오는 11월까지 이번 프로그램을 포함해 총 15회에 걸친 다채로운 탄소중립 실천 사업을 이어갈 계획이다.

Daejeon’s Daedeok-gu is introducing ‘Make the Earth Sparkle,’ a special hands-on program where children protect the environment with their own little hands, in celebration of Earth Day in April.
The program draws attention for its approach to unraveling the concept of carbon neutrality, which can often feel rigid, through crafting activities that children enjoy.
At the event, held on the 7th and 22nd at the Daedeok Carbon Neutrality Lifestyle Practice Center, 10 children aged 5 to 8 will personally create their own mood lamps using sea glass. By participating in the process of making new items from recycled materials, the children are expected to naturally learn the importance of resource circulation and carbon emission reduction.
Meanwhile, Daedeok-gu is also conducting customized environmental education to raise awareness of the value of the global environment. The plan is to encourage children to adopt carbon neutrality as a lifestyle habit from a young age.
