[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 사하경찰서는 오피스텔 세입자들의 전세 보증금 수억 원을 가로챈 혐의로 건물주인 60대 여성 A씨를 입건해 수사하고 있다고 밝혔다.
경찰에 따르면 A씨는 지난 2020년부터 2023년 사이 세입자들과 전세 계약을 맺은 뒤, 임대차 계약이 만료되었음에도 보증금을 돌려주지 않은 혐의를 받고 있다.
현재까지 파악된 피해자는 총 6명으로, 이들이 돌려받지 못한 보증금 규모는 약 4억 3,000만 원에 달하는 것으로 알려졌다.
이번 사건은 올해 3월 말, 피해를 입은 임차인들이 경찰에 잇따라 고소장을 제출하면서 수사가 본격화되었다. 조사 결과 피해자들은 1인당 적게는 6,500만 원에서 많게는 8,000만 원 상당의 보증금을 미반환 상태로 떼인 것으로 확인되었다.
경찰은 고소인 조사를 토대로 건물주 A씨가 처음부터 보증금을 돌려줄 의사나 능력이 있었는지 등 구체적인 기망 행위 여부를 집중적으로 살피고 있다. 경찰 관계자는 세입자들의 추가 피해 가능성을 열어두고 사건의 경위를 면밀히 파악할 방침이라고 설명했다.

The Saha Police Station in Busan announced that it has launched an investigation into a woman in her 60s, identified as "A," on charges of defrauding multiple tenants of their lease deposits.
According to police reports, A is accused of misappropriating approximately 430 million KRW in "Jeonse" deposits (large lump-sum lease deposits) collected from tenants between 2020 and 2023. The investigation began after six tenants filed formal complaints in late March 2026, alleging that their deposits had not been returned upon the expiration of their contracts.
The victims reported individual losses ranging from 65 million to 80 million KRW. While previous reports suggested the legal action began last year, police clarified that the official complaints from these six individuals were centralized and processed at the end of last month.
Authorities are currently examining whether the landlord intentionally defrauded the tenants without the financial capacity to refund the deposits. The police plan to conduct a thorough investigation into the suspect’s financial transactions and determine if there are additional victims tied to the property.
