인천시교육청에 따르면, 이번 프로그램은 중도 입국 및 외국인 가정 학생이 원적 학교의 학적을 유지하면서, 집중적인 한국어 교육을 받을 수 있는 ‘출석 인정 대안교육’ 형태의 위탁교육 과정이다.
주요 교육 내용은 한국어 듣기 ․ 말하기 ․ 읽기 ․ 쓰기 지도, 학교생활 적응 및 한국 문화 이해 교육, 기관별 특색 교육활동 등으로 구성됐다.
특히 학생별 수준에 맞춘 소규모 집중 지도를 통해 원적 학교로의 안정적인 복귀를 돕는 데 중점을 둔다.
인천시교육청은 올해부터 이주배경학생의 교육 접근성을 높이고 적기에 교육 서비스를 제공하기 위해, 운영 기관을 기존 2개에서 총 4개 기관으로 확대한다.
