구미피클볼클럽은 지난달 30일 창단식을 갖고 본격적인 활동에 돌입했다. 약 두 달 반의 준비 기간을 거쳐 운영 기반을 마련했으며, 현재 정회원과 게스트를 포함한 참여가 꾸준히 이어지고 있다.

피클볼은 테니스와 배드민턴, 탁구의 장점을 결합한 스포츠로, 남녀노소 누구나 쉽게 즐길 수 있는 것이 특징이다. 최근 생활체육 종목으로 빠르게 확산되고 있으며, 구미 지역에서는 아직 초기 단계인 만큼 이번 클럽 창단이 저변 확대의 계기가 될 것으로 보인다.

클럽은 현재 지역 내 학교 체육관인 남계초등학교를 중심으로 정기 운동을 진행하고 있다. 초보자부터 경험자까지 누구나 참여할 수 있는 열린 동호회 형태로 운영되며, 회원 간 교류와 건강 증진을 함께 추구하고 있다.

또한 향후 피클볼 지도자 양성 과정 참여와 지역 대회 개최, 교류전 추진 등을 통해 보다 체계적인 운영 기반을 구축할 계획이다.
