[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 하동군이 옛 하동역사 일원에 새롭게 조성된 ‘하동 청년타운’과 ‘하동 비즈니스센터’ 개관식을 8일 개최했다.
이날 행사에는 하승철 군수를 비롯해 강대선 군의회 의장, 김구연 도의원, 노영이 하동청년정책네트워크 위원장, 청년타운 입주민과 기관·사회단체장 등 300여 명이 참석해 새로운 공간의 출발을 함께 축하했다.
이번 개관은 단순한 시설 준공을 넘어, 청년과 지역이 공존하는 지속가능한 성장 기반을 마련했다는 점에서 의미를 더한다.
해당 사업은 2022년 국토교통부 지역개발사업에 선정된 ‘하동 비즈니스센터’ 조성을 시작으로, 2023년 지방소멸대응기금을 활용한 ‘하동 청년타운’ 조성사업이 더해지며 본격 추진됐다.
두 사업은 2023년 설계공모와 실시설계를 거쳐 같은 해 12월 착공, 2025년 9월 건축 준공 이후 3월 내부 공간과 조경 조성을 마무리하며 완성도를 높였다.
‘하동 청년타운’은 청년 인구 유입과 안정적인 정착 기반 마련을 목표로 총 144억 원(지방소멸대응기금 90억 원 포함)을 투입해 조성됐다.
지상 3~4층, 연면적 2,524.53㎡ 규모로 26형·36형·45형 총 45세대의 주거 공간을 갖추며, 청년들이 머무르고 삶을 이어갈 수 있는 실질적 터전을 제공한다.
‘하동 비즈니스센터’는 하동읍 내 부족한 생활 SOC를 확충하고 청년 일자리와 커뮤니티 기능을 유기적으로 결합한 복합 거점으로, 총 52억 원(국토교통부 균형발전사업비 35억 원 포함)을 투입해 지상 1~2층, 연면적 1,281.03㎡ 규모로 조성됐다.
