(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천서부경찰서가 10일, 보행자 교통사고 저감을 위한 유관기관 합동 캠페인이 인천 서구 일대에서 본격 추진된다고 밝혔다.
서부서에 따르면, 지난 9일 유관기관인 인천 서구청, 모범운전자회와 협업하여 보행자 교통안전 확보를 위한 무단횡단 근절 캠페인을 실시했다.
이번 캠페인은 최근 보행자 교통사망사고 발생 구역과 국민신문고 접수 민원을 종합적으로 분석해 사고 위험도가 높은 지점을 중심으로 추진되는 예방활동이다.
첫 캠페인은 이날 인천 서구 가정역 일대에서 이미 개시됐으며, 유동인구가 집중되는 주요 거점을 중심으로 순차 확대될 예정이다.
오는 16일과 23일에는 청중루비사거리, 청라국제도시역 일대에서 추가 캠페인이 진행된다.
현장에서는 ‘무단횡단 금지’ 문구가 기재된 피켓과 어깨띠를 활용한 시각적 홍보를 통해 시민 체감도를 제고하는 한편, 교통경찰과 모범운전자들이 교통수신호를 병행하여 보행자의 안전한 횡단을 적극 유도했다.
또한 무단횡단 행위에 대해서는 현장 단속과 계도를 병행 실시함으로 교통질서 확립과 법규 준수 분위기 조성에 주력했다.
인천 서부경찰서 경비교통과는 “보행자 교통사고 예방을 위해서는 시민들의 교통법규 준수가 필수적”이라며 “사고 취약지 중심의 맞춤형 홍보·단속 활동을 지속적으로 전개해 안전한 보행환경 조성에 만전을 기하겠다”고 밝혔다.
