박근혜 대통령이 대단한 것은, 러시아, 중국, 이란과도 국익을 위한 외교를 펼쳤고, 성과를 이루었다는 것이다. 호르무즈 해협에서 빌빌대고 있는 트럼프나, 미국 눈치 보느라 오로지 한미외교에만 올인했던 윤석열, 러시아에 "ㄹ"자도 안 꺼내고 오매불망 중국, 미국, 일본만 다녀오는 이재명, 뭐 이제 횟수로 1년이라 더 두고봐야겠지만 아직은 아쉬운 이재명식 외교.. 이런 것에 비하면 박근혜 대통령의 외교는 정말 놀라움의 극치였다. 1962년 이란과 수교한 이래 54년 만에 정상으로는 처음으로 10년 전인 2016년 5월, 테헤란을 방문한 박근혜 대통령이다.
이제 곧 있으면 5월, 박근혜 대통령이 이란을 방문한지 10년 째 되는 역사적인 해이지만 그 이후로 테헤란을 방문한 대통령이 없고, 현재까지 대한민국 대통령으로써 이란을 방문한 분은 박근혜 대통령이 유일하다. 이 때 박근혜 대통령의 이란 국빈방문에는 중소 · 중견기업 146개와 대기업 38개, 경제단체·공공기관·병원 52개 등 역대 최대 규모인 236개사가 경제사절단으로 동행했다. 5월 2일에는 오전 당시 이란 대통령인 하산 로하니와 정상회담을 가졌다. 박근혜 대통령은 경제분야 59건을 비롯한 총 66건의 양해각서(MOU)를 체결하는 등 역대 최대의 경제 외교 성과를 거두었다.
특히, 371억 불(약 42조 원)에 달하는 프로젝트 관련 교역 촉진으로 이란 경제제재 이전의 교역 수준을 조기에 회복할 수 있는 교두보를 마련했으며, 철도 · 공항 · 수자원 관리 등의 인프라 건설사업과 석유 · 가스·전력 등의 에너지 재건 사업 참여뿐만 아니라 보건 · 의료 · 문화 · ICT 등의 고부가가치 분야로 협력 지평을 확대할 수 있는 성과를 거두었는데 이게 지금까지 꾸준히 이어졌어야 했다. 당시 박근혜 대통령은 예전에 비해 1/3 가까이 줄어든 교역규모를 복원할 필요가 있다고 언급했고, 로하니 이란 대통령은 양국의 노력으로 5년 이내에 300억 불 이상으로 확대하자고 제의했다. 그리고 인프라 등에서 한국기업들의 참여를 요청했다.
박근혜 대통령은 양국 공동 프로젝트에 대해 단일국가에 제공하는 금융지원으로는 최대 규모인 250억 불 금융 패키지를 마련했다. 2016년 외교는 북한의 도발에 대응한 강경 기조와 경제 영토 확장에 집중했다. 그런데 당시 이란과의 250억 불 금융 패키지를 두고 좌파들은 자기 맘대로 국민 혈세를 낭비했다드니 난리치고, 박근혜 대통령이 쓴 히잡을 가지고 문제 삼기도 했다. 박근혜 대통령은 이란의 정부 수반에게 이슬람 문화를 존중하면서 나름의 예의를 지킨건데 수준 낮은 타블레이드 같은 잡종 언론들이 박근혜 대통령을 마구 물어 뜯었다. 그 때 보수 우파들은 박근혜 대통령을 적극 비호했다.
그로부터 10년 후, 이란과 박 대통령을 물어 뜯던 좌파들이 이제는 미국-이스라엘의 이란에 대한 불법 침략을 규탄하고 있다. 박근혜 대통령을 비호하고 대이란, 대러시아 외교에 대해 긍정적이며 균형외교를 했다고 칭찬하던 우파들은 이제 미국을 등에 업고, 북, 중, 러, 이란까지 끼워 한통속으로 몰아 그들을 적대하고 있다. 10년 사이에, 그 기류가 완전히 바뀐셈이다. 이제 박근혜 대통령이 불법 탄핵을 당하고, 광화문 거리에 섰던 태극기 보수우파들은 어느새 러시아, 중국, 이란과 가까이 했던 박근혜 대통령을 까맣게 잊어 버리거나, 비난하는 인간들도 생겨났다. 이런 자들이 이제 앞장 서서 명예 미국인과 명예 유태인이 되어 타도 이란을 외치고 있다.
