이승원 세종시 경제부시장이 13일 국회를 찾아 이종욱 국토법안심사위원장에게 행정수도건설특별법의 조속한 심사와 처리를 재차 건의했다고 밝혔다.
이 부시장의 이날 방문은 14일 예정된 국토법안심사소위원회에서 행정수도건설특별법이 논의될 수 있도록 적극적인 협조를 구하기 위해 이뤄졌다.
시는 행정수도 건설에 여야 간 이견이 없고 국민적 공감대까지 형성되면서 행정수도건설특별법 처리에 대한 당위성이 확보된 지금이 특별법 처리의 적기임을 강조했다.
이 부시장은 이종욱 위원장과의 면담에서 “여야가 행정수도 완성에 이견이 없고, 여야가 공동으로 발의한 만큼 조속한 처리가 필요하다”고 말했다.
이어 “선거 때마다 행정수도 완성을 말로만 약속할 것이 아니라 지방선거 전 특별법 처리로 의지를 보여야 한다”며 “이번 소위에서는 법안이 통과될 수 있도록 지지와 협조를 바란다”고 요청했다.
이 부시장은 면담에 앞서 ‘행정수도 특별법 국토균형발전의 초석 긴급 토론회’에 참석한 황운하 의원을 만나 특별법의 조속한 처리를 당부했다.
현재 국토법안심사소위원회에는 여야 의원들이 각각 발의한 5건의 행정수도건설특별법안이 회부돼 있다.
해당 법안들은 ▲세종시 행정수도 명문화 ▲국회·대통령 집무실 이전 ▲중앙행정기관 추가 이전 등 행정수도 완성을 위한 핵심 내용을 담고 있다.
한편 세종시는 행정수도건설특별법의 조속한 제정을 위해 정부·정치권에 행정수도 완성 실천 의지 이행을 지속적으로 촉구할 방침이다.
