14일 원주시에 따르면, 시는 한국매니페스트실천본부가 주관한 '2026년 전국 기초자치단체장 공약이행 및 정보공개 평가'에서 최고 등급인 '최우수(SA)'를 획득했다. 특히 원주시는 강원특별자치도 내 시·군 중 유일하게 4년 연속 최우수 등급에 선정되는 대기록을 세우며 명실상부한 공약 이행의 모범 도시로 우뚝 섰다.
이번 평가는 민선 8기 마무리 단계의 공약 이행 실적과 정보 공개 투명성을 종합적으로 점검한 것으로, 전국 226개 기초자치단체를 대상으로 진행됐다. 평가는 ▲공약 이행 완료 ▲2025년 목표 달성 ▲주민 소통 ▲웹 소통 ▲공약 일치도 등 5개 핵심 항목에 대한 엄격한 절대평가 방식으로 이뤄졌으며, 원주시는 모든 분야에서 고르게 높은 점수를 받았다.
원주시의 올해 1분기 기준 공약 완료율은 무려 92.4%에 달한다. 시는 '새로운 변화, 큰 행복, 더 큰 원주'라는 슬로건 아래 추진 중인 전체 132개 공약 사업 중 122개 사업을 이미 완료했거나 이행 후 계속 추진 중인 것으로 집계됐다. 나머지 사업들 역시 차질 없이 정상 추진되고 있어 임기 내 완수가 확실시되고 있다.
