세종특별자치시교육청(이하 세종시교육청)이 유보통합의 실무적 첫걸음으로 유치원과 어린이집 유아들이 함께 참여하는 ‘유아 생존수영교육’의 닻을 올렸다.
세종시교육청은 14일부터 오는 10월까지 반다비 빙상장 수중운동실에서 관내 5세 유아를 대상으로 물놀이 안전사고 예방 및 위기 대처 능력 함양을 위한 생존수영 교육을 운영한다고 밝혔다.
이번 교육은 유보통합 기조에 맞춰 대상 범위를 대폭 확대했다는 점에서 의미가 깊다. 관내 24개 유치원과 34개 어린이집 등 총 58개 기관의 유아 약 1,600명이 이번 교육의 혜택을 받게 된다.
교육 과정은 유아의 발달 단계에 맞춰 물에 대한 공포심을 없애는 기초 단계부터, 실제 위급 상황 시 생명을 지킬 수 있는 생존수영 체험까지 철저히 실습 중심으로 구성되었다.
특히 눈에 띄는 대목은 ‘평상복 입수 교육’이다. 3일(총 6차시) 과정에 참여하는 유아들은 물놀이 복장이 아닌 평상복을 입은 채 물에 들어가는 실습을 통해, 예기치 못한 사고 발생 시 대응력을 높이는 실전 훈련을 받게 된다.
