16일 서석면에 따르면, 지난 14일 지역 주민들이 즐겨 찾는 서석면 전통시장 장터 일대에서 ‘하천·계곡 내 불법 시설 정비’를 위한 대대적인 홍보 캠페인을 펼쳤다고 밝혔다.
이날 캠페인에는 전영길 서석면장을 포함한 면사무소 직원들과 지역 주민 등 40여 명이 뜻을 모아 동참했다. 참가자들은 장터를 찾은 방문객과 상인들을 대상으로 홍보 안내문을 직접 배부하며, 불법 점유 시설물의 자발적인 철거를 적극 유도했다. 또한 하천과 계곡 내 불법 행위 근절을 위한 주민들의 의식 개선과 자발적인 동참을 호소했다.
전영길 서석면장은 “하천과 계곡은 특정 개인의 것이 아니라 우리 모두가 함께 누리고 후대에 물려주어야 할 귀중한 공공 자산”이라며, “앞으로도 일회성 행사에 그치지 않고 지속적인 현장 계도 활동을 펼쳐, 쾌적하고 청정한 서석면의 자연환경을 지켜나가는 데 행정력을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
