16일 원주시에 따르면, 시는 전날인 15일 중앙동 문화의거리 일원에서 여러 시민단체 및 관계 기관과 합동으로 ‘범시민 안전문화운동 캠페인’을 대대적으로 펼쳤다.

이번 캠페인은 세월호 참사 이후 제정된 국민안전의 날(4월 16일)의 의미를 되새기고, 시민들의 안전 경각심을 고취해 생활 속 안전 실천 문화를 정착시키고자 마련됐다.

현장에는 원주시지역자율방재단, 원주시안전추진회, 원주소방서 의용소방대연합회, (사)강원안전생활실천시민연합 등 주요 시민단체 회원들과 원주시, 원주소방서, 한국전기안전공사 원주횡성지사, 건강보험심사평가원, 국민건강보험공단, 산림항공본부 등 10개 기관 관계자 총 100여 명이 집결해 힘을 보탰다.

참가자들은 시민들에게 홍보물을 배부하며 일상 속 안전 점검의 중요성을 알렸으며, 특히 최근 건조한 날씨로 위험이 높아진 ‘봄철 산불 예방 캠페인’을 병행해 이웃의 안전을 위한 시민들의 적극적인 관심과 실천을 당부했다.
한편 원주시는 매달 실시하는 ‘안전점검의 날 캠페인’을 통해 민관 협력 체계를 공고히 하고 있으며, 매년 국민안전의 날을 전후해 대규모 합동 캠페인을 개최하는 등 안전한 도시 원주를 만드는 데 앞장서고 있다.
