【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=정의당 양희 후보가 16일 동구청 앞에서 기자회견을 열고 동구청장 선거 출마를 공식 선언했다.
양 후보는 이날 기자회견에서 “정치는 특권을 지키는 수단이 아니라 주민의 삶을 바꾸는 도구여야 한다”며 “동구를 바꾸고 주민의 삶을 실질적으로 변화시키겠다”고 강조했다.
이날 현장에는 ‘반야월 사람들’과 효목동 전세사기 피해자, 대구민간공항지키기 운동본부 관계자 등 지지자들이 참석해 힘을 보탰다.
양 후보는 동구의 현안에 대해 “첨단·혁신도시가 조성됐지만 양질의 일자리는 여전히 부족하고, 교통·주거·교육 문제 역시 해결되지 않고 있다”고 진단했다. 특히 “주민들이 체감하는 불안과 불편이 크다”며 “특정 정당 중심의 정치 구조 속에서 주민 삶이 뒷전으로 밀려왔다”고 지적했다.

교육·복지 부문에서는 중·고교 신설, 장애인 배리어프리 확대, 탈시설 지원 등 차별 없는 지역 사회를 만들겠다고 강조했다.
환경 분야에서는 팔공산과 금호강 난개발 억제, 도심 습지 보전 모델 구축, 신재생에너지 확대, 동물 보건소 신설 등을 핵심 과제로 내세웠다.
아울러 민간공항 존치를 통해 동구를 남부권 교통 허브로 육성하는 방안도 제시했다.
마침 이날은 세월호 참사 12주기였다. 양 후보는 “국가는 국민의 생명과 안전을 지키고 있느냐는 물음에 여전히 답하지 못하고 있다”며 “지역 정치 역시 책임을 회복해야 한다”고 말했다.
