가스공사는 여기에 그치지 않고 향후 3년간 추가로 13% 절감을 목표로 하는 ‘2차 3개년 효율화 계획’도 수립했다.
새 계획에는 AI 기술 기반의 효율 운전 시스템 도입과 신규 인프라를 활용한 경제적 운영 방안 등이 포함된다. 특히 축적된 운전 데이터를 분석하는 AI 지능형 시스템을 구축하고, 2027년 준공 예정인 당진기지와 기존 4개 생산기지 간 연계 운영을 최적화해 에너지 사용 효율을 높인다는 방침이다.
가스공사 관계자는 “AI 기술과 40여 년간 축적된 설비 운영 노하우를 결합해 효율적인 인프라 운영 체계를 확립하겠다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 에너지 절감 노력을 통해 국민 편익 증진에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Korea Gas Corporation (President Choi Yeon-hye) announced that it has reduced energy consumption in the natural gas production process by 16% as a result of successfully implementing the "Three-Year Plan for Improving Production Facility Operational Efficiency (2023–2025)."
According to the corporation, the energy saved over the past three years amounts to 11 GWh of electricity and 90,000 tons of natural gas. This is equivalent to the amount of electricity and natural gas that approximately 3,700 and 240,000 households, respectively, can use for one year.
This achievement is expected to serve as a foundation for actively participating in national energy conservation efforts amidst growing concerns over energy supply and demand due to international instability, such as the recent war in the Middle East.
Not stopping there, the corporation has also established a "Second Three-Year Efficiency Plan" aiming for an additional 13% reduction over the next three years.
The new plan includes the introduction of an AI-based efficiency operation system and economical operation measures utilizing new infrastructure. In particular, the company plans to improve energy efficiency by establishing an AI intelligent system that analyzes accumulated operational data and optimizing integrated operations between the Dangjin Base, scheduled for completion in 2027, and the four existing production bases.
