[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 경남 김해시가 유네스코 세계유산인 김해 대성동고분군 일대를 중심으로 한 ‘2026 가야문화축제’를 오는 30일부터 5월 3일까지 4일간 개최한다.
김해시는 20일 “올해 축제는 ‘이천년 머문 자리, 빛의 가야가 깨어나다’를 주제로, 가야의 역사와 문화를 현대적으로 재해석한 야간·체류형 축제로 운영한다”고 밝혔다.
이번 축제는 특히 야간 콘텐츠를 대폭 강화한 것이 특징이다. 드론라이팅쇼 ‘하늘빛연희’가 가야 건국 신화와 역사를 밤하늘에 구현하고, 해반천 일대에서는 ‘허왕후와 함께하는 밤마실’ 산책 프로그램과 미디어월, 경관 조명이 운영된다. 시는 이를 통해 고분군 일대를 ‘빛의 문화유산 공간’으로 조성한다는 계획이다.
행사 공간도 대폭 넓혔다. 대성동고분군을 비롯해 수릉원, 봉황동 유적지, 해반천, 가야의 거리까지 축제 구간을 확대하고, 주요 거점 간 동선을 정비해 관람 편의를 높였다.
개막식은 5월 1일 열린다. 고유제와 춘향대제를 결합한 스토리텔링형 프로그램으로 진행되며, 혼불 채화와 퍼레이드, 공연을 연계해 가야의 서사를 입체적으로 전달할 예정이다.

체류형 축제로의 전환을 위한 프로그램도 강화됐다. 수릉원 일대에는 ‘가야 피크닉 라운지’가 조성되며, 봄꽃 정원과 함께 먹거리 부스, 푸드트럭, 배달앱 연계 서비스가 운영된다.
이와 함께 전국예술경연대회 ‘슈퍼스타G’, 가야보물찾기, 문화체험마을 등 시민 참여형 프로그램을 확대해 관람 중심에서 참여형 축제로의 변화를 꾀한다.
시는 또 중소벤처기업부 동행축제, 지역 농산물 판매, 김해식품박람회와 연계해 지역경제 활성화에도 나설 계획이다. 행사 기간 동안 약 430개 부스가 운영된다.
김해시 관계자는 “세계유산을 중심으로 공간을 재편하고 야간 콘텐츠를 강화해 새로운 축제 모델을 제시할 것”이라며 “시민과 관광객이 함께 머무르고 참여하는 대표 역사문화축제로 발전시키겠다”고 말했다.
