경북도의원 64명으로 증원… 영양·울릉 '특례' 유지
경상북도는 이번 법 개정으로 광역의원 정수가 기존 60명에서 64명으로 4석 늘어났다. 인구 상한선을 초과한 경주시와 경산시에서 각각 1개씩 선거구가 신설되며 지역구 의원이 2명 증가했고, 비례대표 의석 또한 6석에서 8석으로 2석 확대됐다.
특히 인구 하한선 미달로 선거구 폐지 위기에 몰렸던 영양군과 울릉군은 농어촌 지역 대표성을 인정받아 '인구 5만 명' 기준 완화 특례가 적용됐다. 이에 따라 두 지역은 현행과 같이 1석씩의 도의원 자리를 지키게 됐다.
