대구대학교(총장 김상호) 인문과학연구소(소장 권응상)가 제주대학교 탐라문화연구원(원장 전영준)과 국제학술대회를 공동으로 개최했다.
지난 11일 제주대학교 탐라문화연구원에서 열린 이번 학술대회는 현장대면대회와 함께 줌(zoom), 유튜브, 페이스북 등을 활용한 비대면의 하이브리드 방식으로 전개되었다.

학술대회는 다른 국가 및 지역으로부터의 발표자, 토론자, 연구자 및 일반인들이 자유롭게 연구 성과와 문제의식을 공유하는 방식으로 진행되었으며 주제는 ‘길 위의 경계인: 환대의 부재와 떠도는 영혼’으로서, 지역의 경계를 넘어 이동(이주)하는 삶의 문제를 조망하는 두 연구소의 연구 지향과 성과를 다뤘다.
이번 국제학술대회에서는 한국, 일본, 중국, 미국, 이탈리아 등 5개국의 연구자들이 지역과 국가의 경계를 넘어서는 다양한 주제의 연구 성과를 발표하고 열띤 토론을 이어갔다.
이번 행사는 일상화된 이동과 이주의 시대에 국경과 지역의 경계를 넘어선 사람들에 대한 환대의 가능성 모색, 학술적 연구의 필요성 제고 및 우리 사회에 시효성 있는 통찰을 제시함으로써 앞으로 두 연구소에서 이뤄질 인문학의 사회적 역할이 크게 기대된다.
권응상 대구대 인문과학연구소장은 “어려운 환경에서도 무사히 국제학술대회를 마치게 돼 기쁘게 생각한다”며 “이번 학술대회를 계기로 학술적 교류를 위한 실질적 기반이 마련됐으며, 앞으로도 다양한 연구기관과 협력과 교류를 넓혀나갈 것이다”고 말했다.
