대구대학교(총장 김상호)가 지난 17일 발표된 교육부의 2021년 3주기 대학 기본역량 진단 결과에서 자율개선대학인 일반재정지원대학으로 선정됐다.
지난 17일 발표한 2021년 대학 기본역량 진단 가결과에 따르면 전국에서 일반대 136개교, 전문대 97개교가 일반재정 지원 대학으로 선정됐다.

일반재정지원대학은 일반·특수목적재정, 국가장학금, 학자금 대출 등 전 영역에서 정부로부터 재정을 지원받을 수 있는 대학을 의미한다.
대구대는 대학 발전계획 및 성과, 교육여건 및 대학운영의 건전성, 학사 관리, 교육과정, 학생 지원, 교육성과 등의 항목으로 구성된 지표에서 우수한 평가를 받았으며, 2022년부터 3년간 정원 자율 조정 운영, 대학혁신지원사업 등 대학 중장기 발전계획에 따른 자율적 혁신도 추진할 수 있게 됐다.
이와 함께 2022년부터 2024년까지 향후 3년 간 교육부로부터 약 120억 원의 재정지원을 받게된 대구대는 다양한 정부지원사업을 수행하게 될 예정으로 2022학년도 신입생 및 재학생들도 이에 따른 많은 혜택을 받을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
김상호 대구대 총장은 "이번 선정을 통해 중장기발전계획과 연계하여 포스트 대학혁신지원사업 지원을 통한 대구대학교의 지속적인 혁신 동력을 확보하게 됐다"며 "앞으로도 진행되는 정부의 각종 평가에 대응하기 위해 핵심지표 관리 등 구성원 모두의 관심과 격려를 부탁드린다"고 말했다.
