지방분권운동대구경북본부가 23일 대구 YMCA청소년회관 4층 백심홀에서 마을문화연구소를 발족하고 제1회 마을문화포럼을 개최했다.
이번 포럼은 분권과 자치의 기본단위인 읍면동의 마을문화에 관한 연구를 본격적으로 추진하기 위해 마련되었다.

이날 행사에는 이승익 대구문화재단 대표이사, 이창용 지방분권운동대구경북본부 상임대표와 서병철 대구YMCA 사무총장, 김상섭 대구신문 사장 등이 참석했다.
지방분권운동대구경북본부는 마을문화연구소 발족을 통해 읍면동단위의 분권과 자치 기반을 다질 예정으로 마을연구의 체계적인 지원을 수행하기 위해 지역의 역사, 인류학, 민속학 등 다양한 분야의 마을연구자들이 참여하는 마을문화 연구 인프라를 구축하고자 한다고 전했다.
특히, 근현대 마을 문화에 있어 주민들 생활 전반에 걸친 자료를 발굴하고 의미를 부여하는 등 전문적인 아카이빙 작업을 통해 마을의 자치력를 강화하고자 하며 이밖에도 마을문화 관련 포럼을 개최하고, 마을기록자 양성 교육과 <마을문화> 책자 발간 등을 추진할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
마을문화연구소 송호상 소장(동양대 교양학부)은 “마을의 문화를 회복하는 것은 마을공동체 회복과 직결되는 문제이고, 이에 대해 역사, 민속, 인류학 등 다양한 학문 분야의 관점을 반영하고 그 내용을 통합적으로 구성해 취지에 맞는 연구 성과를 낼 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
지방분권운동대구경북본부 이창용 상임대표는 “이번 마을문화연구소 발족과 제1회 마을문화포럼을 시작으로 읍면동주민이 자신이 살고 있는 마을의 정체성에 관한 이해 증진을 통해 마을공동체성을 회복하는 계기가 되길 바라며, 앞으로 마을문화 회복과 증진을 위해 읍면동자치제 도입을 위해 노력하겠다”는 입장을 밝혔다.
