대구를 방문한 더불어민주당 대선후보 박용진 의원이 이낙연 후보와 이재명 후보 사이에 이어지는 네거티브 공방에 대해 비판의 목소리를 높였다.
박용진 후보는 더불어민주당 대구시당에서 오전 10시 30분 기자회견을 개최하여 “이재명 후보와 이낙연 후보 두 분의 밑도 끝도 없는 의미도 없는 네거티브 경쟁은 야당에 공격 빌미를 제공해 두 분도 내상을 입고 3위권 주자 박용진은 중상을 입고 당은 치명상을 입고 있는 상황”이라고 비판했다.
그러면서 “캠프에서 이런저런 이야기가 나올 것인데 그런 유혹을 떨쳐내는 것이 지도자의 역할”이라고 강조했다.

이어 박용진 후보는 “민주당이 내로남불의 모습 보이면서 서울과 부산에서만 진 게 아니라 다 졌다. 이미 국민들이 4.7 재보궐 선거에서 민주당 몽둥이 찜질을 한것”이라며 지난 4.7 재보궐 선거 참패를 언급했다.
그러면서 “정치를 시작한 지 얼마 되지도 않은 윤석열, 최재형과 경쟁이 아니라 민심이라는 화난 호랑이 앞에서 어떻게 위기를 벗어날지, 정신 차려서 미래를 책임지는 실력 있는 진보라는 것을 보여줄지 생각해야한다”고 강조했다.
