대구시 상수도사업본부(본부장 김정섭) 수질연구소는 오는 9월부터 신종 오염물질 관리를 실시한다.
상수도사업본부 수질연구소는 낙동강 수계의 신종 오염물질에 대한 막연한 불안감을 해소하기 위해 세계 최고 수준의 분석 장비를 도입, 선제적인 수질 모니터링 시스템을 가동해 대구 수돗물의 신뢰도 제고에 나선다고 26일 밝혔다.

상수도사업본부 수질연구소는 올해 8월부터 최첨단 분석 장비인 고분해능액체질량분석기(LC-QTOF-MS)를 통한 낙동강 수계의 신종 오염물질 상시모니터링을 실시하고 있다.
낙동강수계 상시모니터링은 모두 8개소로 낙동강 취수원 상류 4개소와 정수장 원·정수 4개소이다.
대구시는 8개소의 지속적인 모니터링을 통해 신종 오염물질의 검출 빈도와 인체의 위해성 등을 조사해 단계적으로 자체 감시항목에 추가할 예정이다.
또한, 검출된 신종 오염물질은 실험실용 파일럿플랜트(소규모 정수공정)의 실증과정을 거쳐 최적의 맞춤형 정수처리 공정을 개발해 완벽하게 제거할 계획이다.
이를 통해 수돗물에 대한 막연한 불안감을 해소하고 신뢰도를 높이는 데 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
김정섭 대구시 상수도사업본부장은 “최첨단의 새로운 분석기술 도입과 지속적인 수질 모니터링을 통해 수돗물에 대한 안전성을 더욱 강화해 시민들이 안심하고 마실 수 있는 고품질의 수돗물을 공급하도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
