영진전문대학교(총장 최재영)와 한국펫고등학교(교장 김동상)가 반려동물 분야 전문 인재 양성을 위해 산학 협약 체결에 나섰다.
27일 오전 봉화군 소재 한국펫고등학교 회의실에서 개최된 협약식에는 한국펫고등학교 김동상 교장, 장현주 영진전문대 부총장 등 양 기관 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 진행되었다.

이날 양 기관은 보유하고 있는 역량과 자원을 활용한 대한민국 최고의 반려동물 전문인력 양성을 위해 △교육과정 개발 △실습 및 학술적 교류 활동 △경진대회 개최, 세미나, 특강 등 다양한 분야에서 상호 협력하기로 했다.
경북 봉화군에 소재한 한국펫고등학교는 봉화종합고로 개교해, 경북인터넷고교를 거쳐, 지난 2019년 대한민국 최초로 반려동물 전문인을 양성하는 특성화고교로 자리매김하고 있다.
영진전문대는 현장 실무형 반려동물 전문가를 양성할 목표로 내년도에 50명 정원의 ‘펫케어과’를 신설할 예정으로 해당 학과 입학생은 반려동물학, 반려동물간호학, 반려동물복지, 반려동물 영양학, 반려동물미용 등의 공통과목을 이수한 후 펫미용전공, 펫케어전공, 펫관리전공으로 세부환된 전공 트랙을 통해 심화된 교육을 받게된다.
