전국 15개 시·도교육감이 지난 1일 「사립학교법」 일부개정법률안의 국회 본회의 통과한 것에 대해 환영의 입장을 전했다.
전국시도교육감협의회는 “그 동안 대정부 제안을 통하여 사립학교법 개정을 추진해왔던 「사학의 공공성강화 방안」이 결실을 맺게 되어 더욱 뜻깊다”는 감회를 전했다.
이어 “앞으로도 사학기관의 공공성과 투명성 강화를 위한 정책을 지속적으로 추진할 것이며, 모든 학생들이 동등한 질 높은 교육을 받을 수 있도록 하겠다”는 의지를 밝혔다.
이번 사립학교법 개정안이 국회를 통과함에 따라 초·중등 사립학교 교원의 신규 채용할 경우 시·도교육감에 위탁하여 필기시험을 실시하고 학교운영위원회를 자문기구에서 심의기구로 격상된다.
아울러 사학기관의 정관 또는 규칙으로 부패방지를 위한 행동강령을 마련해야 하고, 징계위원회 기능을 강화하는 내용이 들어있다.
