대구보건대학교(총장 남성희)가 라이프케어산업기술원(이하 기술원) 기공식을 개최했다고 23일 밝혔다.
지난 17일 오후 2시 대구시 동구 첨단의료복합단지 내 시공현장에서 열린 기공식에는 남성희 총장을 비롯한 건축 시공사 관계자와 대학 관계자 등 10여명이 참석했다.

라이프케어산업기술원 건립은 대구보건대학교가 지난 2019년 산업통상자원부 ‘시스템산업거점기관 지원사업’으로 선정된 후 저출산 · 고령화를 대비해 대구를 라이프케어산업의 미래 신성장 동력의 거점역할을 육성하기 위해 마련되었다.
기술원은 내년 2월 준공을 목표로 총사업비 171억 1천만 원을 투입해 1,886.5m2 부지에 연건축면적 1,920m2의 지상 3층 건물을 착공하며 1층은 사용성 평가센터, 리빙랩, 제품홍보· 제험관으로, 2층은 환경안전성지원센터, 공동제작실로 구성하고 3층은 행정동과 기업지원 시설로 구성한다.
기술원이 건립되면 정보통신기술(ICT) 기반 영유아, 산모 · 육아자, 고령자 등 전 주기적 제품의 고도화와 신제품 연구개발, 사용성평가, 유해물질 분석 등 다양한 기업지원 사업으로 대구지역기업 생산유발 효과 연 1천억원, 연간 500명의 일자리가 창출되는 산업효과를 낼 것으로 기대하고 있다.
남성희 총장은“대구보건대학교는 대구시가 추진하는 첨단의료산업정책과 함께 라이프케어산업을 이끌어가는 거점도시로 자리매김 할 수 있도록 아낌없이 지원하겠다”고 전했다.
