대구한의대학교(총장 변창훈)가 캠퍼스 이전을 추진한다고 23일 밝혔다.
대학은 수성캠퍼스에 위치한 한의과대학 및 부속한방병원을 대구 동구 대구경북첨단의료복합단지로 이전한다는 소식을 전하며 이르면 내달 사업을 본격화 한다고 밝혔다.

대구한의대학교는 수성캠퍼스를 매각하고 대경첨복단지 내에 총 740억원을 투자하여 대학 및 부속한방병원(150병상)을 2024년까지 준공할 계획이다.
이는 기존보다 2배 이상인 26,717㎡(약8천평)의 부지에 지하 1층, 지상 6층, 연면적 22,150㎡ 규모이며 이와 함께 제약기업 연구소를 유치하여 대경첨복단지 내 테스트베드 구축 및 지역 의료산업 활성화와 국가 의료산업 경쟁력을 확보할 예정이다.
대구한의대학교는 캠퍼스 이전을 위해 지난 17일 입주 심사 신청서를 대경첨복재단에 제출했으며 대경 첨복재단입주심사위원회의 심사와 대구시 승인, 대경첨복단지 입주 계약 및 LH대구경북지역본주와의 토지분양 계약 등의 절차가 남아 있다.
대학과 부속한방병원의 확장 이전으로 지역 의료산업 발전의 가속화와 함께 의료 인프라가 부족했던 대구 동부권역 거주민들에게 질 높은 의료서비스 제공이 가능해질 것으로 기대된다.
변창훈 총장은 “대학 및 부속한방병원의 이전은 동부권의 교육·의료 인프라를 확충시키고 첨복단지 내 산·학·연·병 바이오클러스터를 구축함으로써 지역 경제성장 및 의료산업 활성화에 기여할 것”이라며 “뇌기능인지센터를 설립하여 바이오 경제 시대에 글로벌 경쟁력을 확보하고 뇌질환 디지털치료제 개발 등을 통해 초고령화 사회에 대비한 의료체계를 확립에 앞장서겠다”는 다짐을 전했다.
