정의당 대구시당이 세계기후행동의 날을 맞아 24일 대구시의 2030 온실가스 감축 계획을 비판하며 온실가스 감축 목표 상향을 촉구하고 나섰다.

24일 오전 11시 대구시청 앞에서 기자회견을 개최한 정의당 대구시당은 “권영진 대구시장이 올해도 작년에 이어 ‘탄소중립 지방정부 실천연대’의 대표를 연임하며 지속적으로 온실가스 감축 메시지를 발표하고 있지만 대구시가 발표한 온실가스 감축계획으로는 기후위기를 대응하기 어렵다”며 주장했다.
이들은 “환경부가 발표한 ‘한국 기후변화 평가보고서 2020’에서 현재수준으로 온실가스가 배출되면 국내 폭염이 가장 취약한 곳은 대구이며 특히 서구의 취약계층이 위험에 처한다고 예상했다.”면서 “보다 적극적인 기후위기 대응 계획을 세워야한다.”고 설명했다.
백소현 환경위원장은 “대구시의 온실가스 감축계획을 들여다보면 기후위기 극복의지는 선언에 불과하다.”며, “대구시가 2030년 배출전망치에서 30%만 감축하고, 2050년에 갑자기 탄소중립을 실현하는 것은 불가능하다.”고 꼬집었다.
그러면서 “대구시가 2050년 탄소중립 실천하기 위해서는 2030년까지 2010년 온실가스배출량 대비 50%를 감축하는 목표를 세워야 한다.”고 지적했다.
한민정 시당위원장은 “기후위기는 국경을 가리지 않고 찾아들지만 고통의 크기는 같지 않다.”면서 “기후변화로 소득하위 계층이 상위계층보다 사망위험이 5배나 높다. 자신을 지킬 수단을 갖지 못하는 사회적 약자에게 가장 큰 희생이 발생하며, 기후위기가 불평등을 심화시킨다.”고 거듭 강조했다.
