계명대, 계명시민교육원 개원식 개최

계명대(총장 신일희)가 ‘계명시민교육원’ 개원으로 시대변화에 필요한 교육을 제공해 나갈 예정이다.

지난 29일 오후 4시, 계명대 대명캠퍼스 대명비사관에서 열린 계명시민교육원 개원식에는 권영진 대구광역시장, 조재구 남구청장, 김한식 대구경북지방중소벤처기업청장, 이재일 대구창조경제혁신센터장, 장원용 (재)대구평생학습진흥원장, 김남석 학교법인 계명대학교 이사장, 신일희 계명대 총장 등 관계자들이 참석했다.

계명대는 기존의 평생교육원을 ‘계명시민교육원’으로 확대 개편하고, 산하에 시민대학, 창업대학, 박물관대학을 통해 지역민의 삶이 풍성해지고, 각자의 경험과 역량이 공동체 발전과 자아실현에 이바지 할 수 있는 주도적 시민교육의 장을 열겠다는 계획이다.

이날 신일희 총장은 개원사를 통해 “지역민들에게 혁신적인 교육을 제공하고 지역사회에 공헌하기 위해 계명시민교육원을 개원했다”며 “대학이 보유하고 있는 학문 역량, 자원과 인프라 공유를 통해 시민교육과 창업교육, 역사문화교육을 제공하고 고령화, 개인화, 디지털화, 탄소 중립, 창업 사회에 지역민이 창의적, 능동적으로 대응할 수 있도록 지원해 나가고자 한다.”고 말했다.

권영진 대구시장은 “대학은 단순한 교육기관을 넘어 지역 발전을 위한 심장과 같은 역할을 한다. 오늘 개원식을 통해 빠르게 변화하는 시대에 적응하며 대응할 수 있도록 꼭 필요한 교육을 제공해 지역의 새로운 산업이 창출할 수 있는 원동력이 되기를 기대한다.”고 축사를 전했다.
