국민의힘 대선주자인 최재형 후보가 30일 대구 서문시장을 방문해 시민들을 만나면서 “박정희 대통령 리더십 계승자가 되겠다”는 포부를 밝혔다.
이날 최 후보는 “6·25 전쟁으로 폐허된 나라를 세계적인 강국으로 일으킨 바탕에는 하나로 뭉친 국민들과 지도자 박정희 대통령이 있었다”면서 “국민을 위해 ‘한강의 기적’과 7·4 남북공동성명으로 북한과 협력의 문도 열었고, 산재보험, 국민건강보험 등을 도입해 복지국가의 근간을 만들었다”고 말했다.

그는 “박정희 대통령이 꿈꾸던 대한민국은 아이들이 희망을 갖고 마음껏 꿈을 펼칠 수 있도록 하는 것”이라면서 “박정희 대통령 정신과 리더십을 계승해 희망의 대한민국을 후손들에게 물려주겠다”며 대구시민들에 지지를 호소했다.
이어 최재형 후보는 문재인 정권에 대해 “이념편향적 경제실험으로 중산층을 무너뜨려 ‘국민하향평준화’를 만들었다”라고 비판했다.
그는 “문 정권이 세금으로 공공일자리를 만들어 사회주의식 일자리 배급을 하고 있다”며 “‘5년 전세 정권’이 주인의 곳간을 다 팔아먹고 있고, ‘북한에겐 두손 싹싹, 표만 보면 돈 퍼주는 정권’이 됐다”고 질타했다.
이날 최재형 후보는 서문시장에서 점심식사를 하며 시민들을 가까이에서 만나는 모습으로 민심 잡기에 나섰다.
한편 같은 날 홍준표 후보와 유승민 후보 역시 대구를 찾아 텃밭 민심 잡기에 총력을 기울였다.
