대구시교육청(교육감 강은희)이 국제 바칼로레아(IB) 월드스쿨로 공식 인증된 경북대사대부고와 포산고에서 기념 현판식을 개최했다.
경북대사대부고와 포산고는 지난 9월 15일자로 국제 바칼로레아(IB) 고등학교 과정인 디플로마 프로그램(DP)을 정식으로 운영할 수 있는 학교로 공식 인증됐다.

이에 따라 지난 9월 10일자로 인증 받은 대구외국어고를 포함하여 대구에서는 총 3개의 고등학교가 IB 월드스쿨로 인증되었다.
국제 바칼로레아(IB) 프로그램은 스위스에 본부를 둔 비영리교육재단인 IBO가 개발·운영하는 국제인증 학교 교육 프로그램으로 역량 중심 교육과정을 기반으로 개념 이해 및 탐구학습 활동을 통한 학습자의 자기주도적 성장을 추구하는 교육 체제이다.
대구의 IB DP 월드스쿨은 주로 국제학교나 외국인학교인 국내의 다른 IB DP 학교들과는 달리 국공립학교로써 국가교육과정 내에서 운영한다는 점으로 눈길을 끈다.
이는 영어와 영어연극과목을 제외한 모든 과목을 한국어로 수업 및 평가 할 수 있게 되어 학생들이 언어의 제약 없이 깊은 사고와 확장된 탐구를 할 수 있다는 점에서 의미를 더한다.
두 학교 모두 지난 2018년부터 IB 프로그램을 도입을 준비하여 2019년 12월에 IB 본부로부터 후보학교 지정 승인을 받아 22개월만에 최종적으로 IB 월드스쿨 인증을 받았다.
강은희 교육감은 “대구외고에 이어 경북대사대부고와 포산고도 IB 월드스쿨로 성공적으로 인증을 받게 됨으로써 이제 고등학교에서도 탐구기반의 학생 주도적 학습을 기반으로 창의융합 미래인재를 키우기 위한 IB 교육을 안정적으로 제공할 수 있게 되었다”며, “앞으로 더 많은 학생들이 IB 교육을 이수할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
