브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 대권주자인 유승민 전 의원은 최근 '유승민-홍준표 단일화설'이 정치권에 돌고 있는데 대해 "홍준표 후보 캠프측에서 비겁한 짓 좀 안 했으면 좋겠다"고 일갈했다.
유승민 후보는 29일 오전 서울 여의도 국회 소통관에서 기자들과 만난 자리에서 "여러 사람들을 통해 그런 이야기가 나오는데, 있을 수도 없는 이야기"라며 "홍준표 캠프에서 주로 그런 장난을 많이 치고 윤석열 캠프에서도 그걸 가지고 이용하고 있다"고 비판했다.
그는 "정당이 경선을 한다는 자체가 단일화 과정 아닌가"라며 "두 후보측의 초조함의 발로라고 생각한다"고 말했다.
유 후보는 또한 "윤석열 후보와 홍준표 후보는 두 분 다 정책이나 도덕성이나 피장파장"이라며 "두 분이 본선에 올라가면 아주 무난하게 질 거라 생각한다. 이기는 후보를 뽑는 게 경선 목적 아니겠나"라고 했다.
윤석열 캠프측의 지지선언이 계속되고 있는데 대해서도 "줄세우기식의 굉장한 구태라고 생각한다"면서 "여러 지지 선언이 가짜인 것도 많다. 그만큼 불안하고 초조해서 마지막에 무리하는 게 아닌가 그런 생각을 한다"고 꼬집었다.
그는 아울러 "우리 당원은 대한민국 국민 중 가장 정권교체를 절실히 원하는 분들이다. 자신의 소중한 한 표를 냉철하게 행사하실 거라고 믿는다"면서 "특히 당협위원장이나 영향력 있는 사람들이 누구를 찍으라고 한다고 해서 그렇게 자신의 한 표를, 남의 말을 듣고 자신의 투표권을 행사하리라고는 생각하지 않는다"고 했다.
그러면서 "진정 정권교체를 원하고 생각하는 당원 동지 여러분들은 과연 누구를 후보로 세워야 민주당 이재명 후보를 꺾고 정권교체를 할 수 있는지, 냉철하게 판단해달라"고 덧붙였다.
