대경대학교가 육군 부사관학군단(RNTC) 추가 설치대학으로 선정되었다고 밝혔다.

대경대학교는 최고수준의 안보학 교육 과정 개설, 각종 학군단 지원을 위한 인프라 및 플랫폼 구축, 우수한 후보생 인재 확충을 위한 계획 등을 통해 국방부(육군)이 추진하는 부사관학군단 신규 운용 3개 대학 중 최우수 대학으로 선정되어 내년부터 운영을 실시한다고 밝혔다.
2006년 개설된 대경대 군사학과는 개설 이래 1,500여명의 군사학도와 900여명의 부사관, 50여 명의 장교 등 호국간성을 배출해왔다.
또한 군사학과는 2000년 초부터 육군본부 등 다양한 부대와의 업무협약을 시작으로 인재양성은 물론 적극적인 호국보훈활동도 지속적으로 펼치고 있다.
대경대학교 이채영 총장은 이번 국방부의 발표에 “‘DIFFERENCE IS THE VALUE’의 비전으로 부사관학군단의 새로운 지평을 열고, 아울러 국가안보에 기여할 수 있도록 각종 호국보훈행사, 군사학 발전 등을 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
