국민의힘 김승수 의원(대구북구을, 문체위 간사)이 "내년 문체부 예산에 경북도청 후적지 개발을 위한 연구용역비를 편성해야 한다"는 주장에 나섰다.

김승수 의원이 국회 문화체육관광위원회 2022년 예산안 심사 전체회의에 참석해 북구에 위치한 경북도청 후적지에 대해 ”어떻게 개발할 것인지, 향후 어떤 시설을 어떻게 배정할 것인지 정부차원에서 검토한 것이 있는지"에 대한 질문을 던졌다.
이에 황희 문체부 장관은 "현재 검토중인 것으로 알고 있다"고 답변했다.
김승수 의원은 "경북도청 후적지는 대구의 요지에 위치해 있어 최근 이슈가된 이건희 컬렉션이나 국립근대미술관, 그리고 대구의 뮤지컬과 오페라 등은 이미 20년 가까이 국제경쟁력을 키워오고 있기 때문에 그런 시설물을 입지하는 것 등에 대해 내년도 예산에 용역비를 담아서 계획을 수립해주길 바란다"고 정부에 요청했다.
이에 황 장관은 "(용역비 반영과 관련하여)당연히 그러한 부분들은 포함되어서 검토되고 있다."며 "향후 대구경북 시민들의 이야기를 더 많이 듣도록 하겠다"고 답했다.
4만3천135평의 면적에 달하는 경북도청 후적지는 내년도 문체부에서 부지 매입을 완료할 예정으로 국립문화시설이 들어서기에 최적의 입지 조건을 갖추고 있는 곳이다.
문체부는 지난 2015년 경북도청 후적지에 대해 용역을 실시하고 1차 용역을 진행한 이후 국가 매입을 마무리 한 것으로 알려진다.
