구자근 의원(국민의 힘, 구미시 갑)이 구미에 위치한 경북외국어고등학교의 강당보수, 냉난방개선 등을 위해 교육부 특별교부금 11억 2400만원을 확보했다고 밝혔다.

이로 인해 강당의 노후화가 심각하고 학생들의 안전에 대한 우려가 짙어지는 가운데 구자근 의원은 올 10월 교육부 특별교부금 확보에 전력해 강당 등 보수 자금으로 신청한 11억 2,400만원 총액을 전부 교부받을 수 있도록 했다고 밝혔다.
이번 특별교부금을 통해 경북외고는 ?다목적강당 내 바닥 ?화장실 ?냉난방 개선 및 조명 개선 ?천장 및 외벽 보수 등 리모델링에 가까운 시설개선을 할 수 있게 되었다.
구자근 의원은 “그동안 구미에서 손꼽히고 경북이 내세우는 경북외고 학생들이 노후화된 환경에서 활동할 수밖에 없어 마음이 무거웠다”며, “이번 교부금 확보와 시설 개전을 통해 안전하고 쾌적한 학교생활을 해나갈 수 있길 바라겠다”고 밝혔다.
