브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 윤석열 국민의힘 대선후보가 11일 "제가 대통령이 된다면 한일관계 개선을 '김대중-오부치 선언'을 재확인하는 것으로부터 시작하겠다"고 밝혔다.
윤석열 후보는 이날 페이스북을 통해 "오늘 첫 일정으로 김대중 노벨평화상기념관에 간다. 김대중 대통령은 IMF 외환위기 극복 등 여러 업적을 남겼지만 그 중에서 '공동선언'은 외교 측면에서 빼놓을 수 없는 업적이다. 우리나라 현대사에 그때만큼 한일관계가 좋았던 때가 없었다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "안타깝게도 같은 민주당 정권임에도 불구하고 문재인 정부의 지난 4년 한일관계는 악화될 대로 악화됐다"며 "공동선언의 정신과 취지를 계승해서 한일관계를 발전시킨다면 향후 두 나라의 미래는 밝을 것"이라고 말했다.
이어 그는 "저는 두 나라 정치 지도자들만 결심한다면 김대중-오부치 시절로 돌아갈 수 있다고 생각한다"며 "현재 두 나라 사이의 현안들은 쉽지는 않지만 해결 불가능한 문제가 아니다"고 강조했다.
그러면서 "일본이라는 이웃을 지구상의 다른 곳으로 옮길 수는 없다. 좋으나 싫으나 함께 사는 지혜가 필요한 이유다"라고 덧붙였다.
