영진전문대학교(총장 최재영)와 새마을운동중앙회(회장 염홍철)이 업무협약을 맺고 지역발전을 위한 인재양성에 나선다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 새마을운동의 전승과 국가와 지역발전을 위해 젊은 세대가 적극 동참, 기여하고, 이를 위해 양 기관이 유기적인 협력 체계를 구축 및 교류하기 위해 마련되었다.

협약은 영진전문대학교 본관 회의실에서 진행 되었으며 협약식에는 영진전문대 최재영 총장, 보직 교수와 새마을중앙회 대구광역시 새마을회 최영수 회장 등 10여 명이 참석했다.
협약을 통해 양 기관은 △지역 산업과 지역 혁신성장 연계 공동사업 개발, △탄소 중립 실현을 위한 상호 협력, △대학 내 대학생 새마을운동 동아리 운영, △국내외 새마을운동 봉사활동 관련 프로그램 대학생 참여 유도, △교육·학술 관련 연구 및 행사 지원 등을 추진할 계획이다.
최재영 총장은 "근면, 자조, 협동의 새마을정신을 대학 교육에 반영하고, 새마을회와 교육, 의료, 탄소중립, 돌봄사업 등 다양한 분야 사업 추진에 적극적으로 동참하겠다"고 밝혔다.
