브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이명박 전 대통령측은 24일 정부의 특별사면 발표에서 제외된 것과 관련 "국민화합 차원이 아니라 정략적인 판단"이라고 비판했다.
이날 이명박 전 대통령 비서실과 참모들은 입장문을 통해 "문재인 대통령의 사면을 보고 참담한 심정으로 입장을 밝힌다"라며 이같이 말했다.
이들은 "두 분(박근혜·이명박) 전임 대통령을 임기 내내 구속해 두었다가 대선을 목전에 두고 그 중 한 분만 사면했다"며 "사면을 정치적으로 이용하겠다는 의도를 드러낸 것으로 볼 수밖에 없다"고 지적했다.
이어 "법치의 원칙으로나 국민 정서상으로 도저히 동의할 수 없는 인사들을 사면하는 데 대한 반발을 무마하려고 전임 대통령의 사면을 활용했다는 의심을 떨칠 수 없다"면서 "이명박 전 대통령을 사면에서 제외시킨 것은 부당한 사법처리가 정치보복이었음을 다시 한번 확인하게 하는 처사"라고 주장했다.
그러면서 "이명박 전 대통령은 평소에 문 정권에서 사면 받는 것을 기대하지 않는다고 말했다. 이 전 대통령이 코로나까지 겹친 엄동설한의 옥고를 잘 견뎌내길 바란다"고 덧붙였다.
아울러 사면대상이 된 박근혜 전 대통령에 대해선 "건강이 나쁜 것으로 알려진 박 전 대통령이 풀려난 것은 본인을 위해 다행한 일"이라고 언급했다.
한편 박범계 법무부 장관은 이날 정부서울청사에서 가진 브리핑에서 "(박근혜 전 대통령과 이명박 전 대통령은) 사안과 내용이 다르다. 그런 부분도 고려가 된 것으로 안다"며 "국민적 정서도 고려하지 않을 수 없는게 아니냐는 생각"이라고 말했다.
박 장관은 박 전 대통령 사면에 대해선 "건강상태가 매우 중요한 기준이었다"라고 했다. 최근 박 전 대통령은 어깨와 허리 질환 악화를 이유로 지난달 22일부터 외부 병원에 입원해 치료를 받아왔다.
