브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 중앙선거대책위원회가 3일 선대위를 전면 개편하기로 했다. 윤석열 후보도 이날 공개 일정을 모두 취소했다.
김종인 선대위 총괄선대위원장은 이날 새해 첫 선대위 회의에서 "국민 정서를 따르는 측면에서 선대위가 최선의 노력을 경주한다는 걸 국민에게 보여드리기 위해 선대위를 전면 개편할 것"이라며 "지금 여론이 너무나도 선대위에 압박을 가하고 있다는 걸 감지했기 때문에 국민정서에 맞게 선대위를 개편해야 선거를 제대로 치를 수 있다는 판단을 했다"고 설명했다.
김종인 위원장은 이준석 대표가 주장해온 '선대위 내 윤핵관(윤석열 핵심 관계자)' 문제에 대해서도 "본부장 사퇴를 포함해 구조조정도 해야 하고 그러한 개편을 단행할 것"이라고 말했다.
이양수 선대위 수석대변인은 이날 오전 기자들에게 "국민의힘 윤석열 대통령 후보는 현재 이후의 일정을 잠정 중단했음을 알려드린다"며 "추후 일정이 재개되는 대로 공지해드리겠다"고 밝혔다.
윤석열 후보는 당초 이날 KRX(한국거래식) 개장식, 서민금융 공약 발표, 상임위원장 및 간사단 연석회의, 의총 참석, 방송사 및 언론사 인터뷰 등 일정이 빼곡했으나 이를 모두 취소한 것이다.
정치권에선 최근 윤 후보의 심상치 않은 지지율 하락과 함께 후보교체론까지 언급되는 등 이 위기를 모른 채 지나칠 수 없었을 것이란 분석이 나오고 있다.
여기에 더해 안철수 국민의힘 후보의 지지율이 10%를 넘어서며 야권후보 단일화 문제까지 고개를 들자, 선대위 전면 개편을 통해 이 위기를 극복하고 넘어가기 위한 것으로 보인다.
