[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 경상남도 기후위기 대응을 위한 특별위원회는 오는 20일자로 활동기간이 종료됨에 따라 지난 11일 제5차 회의를 개최하여 6월 30일까지 활동기간을 연장하기로 했다.
그동안 특위는 지난 1년간 집행부 업무보고를 다수 실시하여 경남도의 기후위기 대응 추진상황을 수시로 점검하고, 정부와 국회를 향해 온실가스 감축 전략을 제도적으로 뒷받침 할 수 있는 관련 법안 제·개정 촉구 등 기후위기 대응을 위하여 지속적으로 노력해왔다.
그러나 정부의 2050 탄소 중립이라는 과감한 목표 달성을 위해서는 지속적인 관심과 실천이 필요한만큼 기후위기 대응 체계 전반에 대한 종합적 점검과 더불어 각계각층의 다양한 의견수렴 및 공감대 형성을 위하여 특위의 활동기간을 연장했다.
신상훈 위원장은 “나날이 심각해지고 있는 기후변화의 영향과 환경의 피해를 엄중히 인식하고, 눈앞에 닥친 기후위기 극복을 위하여 의회차원의 체계적이고 선제적인 대응을 위해 더욱 노력하겠다 ”고 밝혔다.
