[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 강기윤 의원은 7일 국회 보건복지위원회 2022년도 제1회 추가경정예산안 전체회의에서 정부가 코로나19 확진자의 참정권 보장을 위한 특단의 대책을 마련해야 한다고 밝혔다.
강 의원은 “질병관리청은 하루 17만명까지 확진자가 발생할 수 있다고 경고하고 있다. 그런데도 정부는 사전투표일(3월 4~5일) 이후 코로나19에 확진된 국민들은 우편투표 혹은 특별사전투표소를 통한 투표조차 불가능한데 아직까지 아무런 방안을 마련하지 않은 상황이다.”고 지적했다.
또한 “1952년 최초로 치러진 지방선거는 6·25전쟁 속에서도 투표율이 92%에 달했다며 코로나19 시국이긴 하지만 21세기 대한민국에서 전쟁보다 어려운 선거 상황에 직면했다는 점은 헌법에 보장된 참정권의 훼손이자 민주주의의 근간을 흔드는 심각한 사안이다.”고 강조했다.
강기윤 의원은 “보건복지부, 질병관리청, 행정안전부, 선거관리위원회 등 유관 정부부처가 신속하게 대책을 마련해야 한다. 사전투표일을 확대하거나, 확진자와 재택치료자가 별도로 사전투표할 수 있는 장소 및 방안 마련이 시급하다.”며 대책을 요구했다.
