조영종 충남교육감 예비후보가 서천군 지역 선거운동에 나섰다.
먼저 조 예비후보는 서천군 기산면에 위치한 문헌서원을 찾아 고려말 충신 목은 이색 선생의 동상 앞에서 선생의 애국충절의 정신을 기리는 시간을 가졌다.
문헌서원은 1574년 목은 이색 선생과 그 부친 가정 이곡 선생의 학문과 덕행을 추모하기 위해 창건하고 위패를 모신 서원이다.

이어 조 예비후보는 서천읍내로 이동해 대한노인회 서천군지회(회장 김윤태)를 방문하여 김윤태 회장과 인성교육에 대한 담소를 나눴다.
이 자리에서 김 회장은 “오늘날 학교 교육에서 인성교육이 실종된 것 같아 안타깝다”고 전하며, “학창시절에 철저한 인성교육이 평생의 재산으로 그 사람의 성공적인 삶을 보장하는 것”이라고 말하며 인성교육을 당부했다.
이에 조 예비후보는 “인간다움을 먼저 배우는 학교가 되어야 한다는 생각”이라고 화답하면서, “지역의 어르신들이 청소년들의 인성교육에 뜻을 같이 하시는 만큼 앞으로 학교에서도 체계적인 인성교육을 실시하겠다”며 포부를 밝혔다.
