[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 행정안전부는 지난 7일 ‘2022년도 외국인주민.북한이탈주민의 정주환경 개선’ 사업에 창원시와 김해시가 선정되었다고 밝혔다.
전국 지자체를 대상으로 실시한 ‘외국인 주민 등 거주지역 기초 생활기반 조성사업’ 공모는 지난 1월 진행되었으며, 현지실사 및 사업선정위원회의 심사를 거쳐 최종 14개 지자체가 선정됐다.
이번 공모에 선정된 창원시와 김해시는 정주환경 개선을 위한 안전·문화?편의시설 확대 분야, 지역주민과 소통?교류 활성화를 위한 커뮤니티 공간 확충 등이다.
창원시는 외국인 근로자가 많이 거주하는 지역으로 오래된 쉼터를 개선해 어린이 놀이터, 주민편의공간, 북카페 등을 설치 후 외국인주민들의 정보공유 및 소통·교류의 공간으로 탈바꿈할 예정이다.
김해시 또한 외국인 주민 어울림 커뮤니티센터를 구축해 외국인 주민들간 정보공유 및 소통의 공간으로 활용한다.
최 훈 행정안전부 지방자치분권실장은 “외국인주민·북한이탈주민이 지역사회에 조기 정착할 수 있도록 정주환경 개선사업을 확충나가겠다” 며, “다양한 지원 사업을 통해 지역주민과 더불어 살아갈 수 있도록 적극지원하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
