National Railroad Corporation opens Jochiwon East-West Connecting Road
Improvement of transportation in Jochiwon eastern and western areas cut off by railroad
The east-west connecting road connecting the eastern and western regions of Jochiwon-eup, Sejong City was opened on the 11th.
The Chungcheong Headquarters of the National Railroad Corporation held an opening ceremony for the East-West Connecting Road in Jochiwon, Sejong City on the same day.
In the meantime, the eastern and western parts of Jochiwon-eup have been cut off by the passage of the Gyeongbu Line, and the lack of three-dimensional facilities where railroads and roads intersect, and there is only one underpass that crosses the railroad, has caused inconvenience in transportation, such as detouring long-distance routes for those with disabilities.
Accordingly, Chungcheong Headquarters signed an agreement with Sejong City in 2017 and invested 29.8 billion won in December of the same year to complete the construction on a 4-lane scale of 21m in width and 270m in length.
With the opening on this day, the industrial complex is expected to contribute to the harmony of residents by improving traffic flow in the eastern and western regions and resolving regional imbalances.
Kim Yong-doo, head of Chungcheongnam-do, said, “With the opening of the East-West Connecting Road in Jochiwon-eup, transportation convenience is expected to greatly improve for local residents, especially for the transportation vulnerable. I will do my best,” he said.
