행동하는 지구시민 교육을 위해 대전교육청과 대전YMCA가 손을 맞잡았다.
대전교육청과 대전YMCA은 11일 시 교육청 중회의실에서 청소년 지구시민 교육을 위한 업무협약을 가졌다.
이번 협약은 교육 현장에서 세계시민교육을 실행해 온 대전교육청과 전국단위의 네트워크를 통해 축적된 세계시민 교육경험을 가진 대전YMCA가 협력해 청소년 지구시민교육 프로젝트를 추진하기 위해 마련됐다.
협약은 △ 자유학기제 등 학교 교육과정과 연계한 행동하는 지구시민교육 운영 협력 △ 지역사회와 글로벌 문제 해결을 위한 학습 기회 제공 △ 청소년 지구시민교육 및 프로젝트 활동 지원을 위한 네트워크 구축과 홍보활동 지원 △ 기타 청소년활동에 기여할 수 있는 연계 및 협력 등이다.
양 기관은 중·고등학생을 대상으로 교육과정과 연계해 지구의 다양성을배우고 지역사회를 기반으로 한 지구시민 행동 프로젝트를 진행할 계획이다.
이를 통해 참여와 실천을 기반으로 한 지구시민교육 모델을 확산하고 청소년들이 지속가능한 지역사회를 만들기 위한 행동할 수 있는 기회를 부여하고 지원하게 된다.
시 교육청 관계자는 “이번 협약을 계기로 학생들이 행동하는 세계시민으로 성장할 수 있도록 체험프로그램을 다양화하고 세계시민으로서 갖춰야하는 여러 소양들을 키워줄 것”이라고 말했다.
한편 청소년 지구시민 교육은 지구 둘러싼 다양한 주제에 대해서 다각적, 비판적으로 바라보고 지속 가능한 사회를 만들기 위해 필요한 태도와 역량을 함양시키기 위한 교육이다.
