고양시가 장애인의 날을 기념해 지난 20일 일산문화공원에서 ‘제42회 장애인의 날 기념식 및 축하행사’를 성황리에 개최했다.

이번 기념행사는 장애인에 대한 이해와 장애인의 재활 의욕을 높여 장애인 복지증진과 함께하는 사회를 구현하기 위해 마련된 행사로 고양시장애인연합회 주최로 개최됐다.
행사는 고양시 장애인, 장애인복지 관련 종사자 약 300여명이 참석한 가운데 진행되었으며, 이길용 고양시의회 의장, 한준호 국회의원, 이용우 국회의원 등 많은 내빈이 참석했다.
장애인의 날 행사는 고양 국악원의 길놀이 풍물 및 사물놀이 축하공연을 시작으로 장애의 역경을 극복한 모범장애인과 장애인 인권증진과 권익 향상을 위해 노력해온 장애인복지 증진 유공자 등 19명에게 표창장을 수여하고 장애인헌장을 낭독하는 등의 순서로 진행되었다.
이재준 고양시장은 축사를 통해 “지난 2년은 장애인과 그 가족분들께 인고의 시간이었다. 장애인을 위한 사업과 권리확보에 애써주시고 장애인 복지를 각별히 살펴주신 장애인복지 관련 기관 및 단체 종사자 등 관계자 분께 깊은 감사를 드리며, 365일 장애인의 날, 장애인이 주체가 되는 날이 될 수 있도록 고양시가 더욱 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
