브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 권성동 국민의힘 원내대표는 26일 검수완박(검찰 수사권 완전 박탈) 중재안에 합의한데 대해 "제 판단 미스로 당에 부담을 지우고 책임을 떠넘겨 죄송하다"며 더불어민주당과 재협상을 하겠다고 밝혔다.
반면 민주당은 국민의힘의 재협상 요구를 '합의 파기'로 받아들이며 응하지 않겠다는 입장이다.
권성동 원내대표는 이날 여의도 국회에서 열린 긴급의원총회에서 "어떻게 이 국면에 대응하는 게 좋을지 기탄없이 의견을 개진해달라. 의원들의 총의가 모이면 그 총의에 따라 원내대표로서 역할을 하겠다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 검수완박 중재안 합의 이후 재협상으로 방침을 선회한데 대해 "여야가 어떤 정치적 사안에 합의했다 하더라도 국민의 의견보다는 우선될 수가 없는 것"이라며 "여야가 합의했더라도 그 합의 사항이 국민에게 수용되지 않을 때는 당연히 재논의를 해 국민의 뜻에 맞춰가는 것이 정치권의 책무"라고 설명했다.
권 원내대표는 앞서 중재안에 합의한 이유에 대해선 "민주당이 소위 검수완박법, 직접수사권 뿐만 아니라 검찰의 보완수사권까지 완전히 박탈하는 법을 그대로 민주당이 강행처리하도록 내버려 두는 것이 우리 당의 입장에서 좀 선거 유리하지 않겠냐는 생각도 저 나름대로 했었다"며 "검수완박법이 강행처리됐을 때 국민이 입는 실질적인 피해, 형사사법시스템의 완전붕괴 그리고 새정부가 국정을 원활히 운영하기 위해서 민주당의 협조가 절실한 만큼 불가피하게 그렇게 선택했다"고 했다.
권 원내대표는 "민주당이 재협상에 동의하지 않고 자신들의 뜻대로 법안을 강행 처리하겠다고 조금 전 의총에서 완강한 입장을 보이고 있다"고 전했다.
특히 민주당은 4월 국회 내 처리하겠다는 강경한 입장이어서 단독 처리 가능성도 배제할 수 없다. 민주당은 이날 중으로 소위에서 법안 심사를 완료한 뒤 전체회의에 넘겨 의결할 것으로 보인다. 중재안 재논의를 바라는 국민의힘을 배제한 채 단독 처리시킬 가능성이 제기된다.
이후 박병석 국회의장과 조율해 이르면 27일 본회의를 열고 검수완박 법안을 최종 통과시키겠다는 구상이다.
