창원특례시, 환경부장관 표창 수상

[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 창원특례시는 19일, 2022년 생물다양성의 날 및 습지의 날 기념 환경 보전 유공기관으로 선정돼 환경부장관 표창을 수상했다고 밝혔다

이번 생물다양성 분야 유공자 표창은 생물다양성 및 생물자원보전, 습지보전을 몸소 실천하고 환경의식이 투철해 국가 시책 추진과 환경행정 발전에 기여한 개인 및 단체에 수여하는 포상이다.

시는 지난 10여 년간 전문가 및 시민단체 등과 함께 민관협력으로 마산만 및 도심하천 수질개선 사업 등 생태환경개선과 생물다양성 보전을 위해 많은 노력을 해왔고 창원형 생물다양성 정책 기반을 마련하는 등 생물자원 보전정책을 선도적, 모범적 추진으로 환경보전에 노력한 점이 공로로 인정됐다.

특히 창원천, 남천 등 도심하천에 은어와 연어가 돌아왔으며 멸종위기종인 수달 서식까지 공식 확인함에 따라 체계적인 생태계 보호를 위해 12개 기관이 민?관?산?학 협력체계를 구축하여 시민 참여형 프로그램을 개발하고 기업체 참여방안을 마련하는 등 타 기관에 비하여 수범적인 지자체로 좋은 평가를 받았다.
