브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= bhc치킨의 대학생 봉사 단체 ‘해바라기 봉사단’이 지난 20일 서울 영등포구에 위치한 여의도 샛강생태공원에서 ‘디지털샛강지도’ 제작 봉사를 펼쳤다.
이번 활동은 국내 최초 생태공원인 여의도 샛강생태공원에 대한 관심 촉구 및 생태 보호를 위해 마련된 것으로, 여의샛강생태체험관에서 진행하는 디지털샛강지도 프로그램에 참여하는 형태로 이뤄졌다.
여의샛강생태체험관은 사회적협동조합 ‘한강’이 한강 생태 복원을 목적으로 2019년부터 운영하는 곳이다. 2021년 4월 발행된 디지털샛강지도는 500여 명의 시민이 발품 팔아 구축해 온 구글 기반 지도로 생태공원 생물을 포함한 다양한 정보가 담겨 있다.
이날 해바라기 봉사단 6기 1조는 체험관에서 받은 태블릿을 이용해 생태공원 동식물, 시설물 등을 사진 촬영했다. 이후 공원 일대를 다시 돌면서 쓰레기를 수거하는 환경정화 활동도 했다. 봉사단이 축적한 데이터는 향후 기관을 통해 방문자를 대상으로 생태공원 정보 제공 및 생태 보호에 관한 이해도를 높이는 용도로 활용된다.
bhc치킨 관계자는 “이번 봉사단의 활동은 여의도 샛강생태공원의 생태적 가치 제고는 물론 건강한 생태계 확립 등에 기여하는 실질적 방안”이라며 “앞으로도 bhc치킨은 봉사단원이 사회 다양한 이슈에 주의를 기울이며 선한 영향력을 끼치는 리더로 성장하도록 지원을 아끼지 않을 것이다”고 전했다.
한편, ‘해바라기 봉사단’은 총 10명의 대학생으로 구성된 봉사 단체로 2017년 발족한 BSR(bhc+CSR) 활동의 일환이다. 5명씩 2개의 조가 1년간 직접 기획한 내용을 바탕으로 사회 곳곳에서 봉사를 실천하는 것이 특징이다.
올해 기수인 해바라기 봉사단 6기 역시 해외 저소득층 아동, 취약계층 노인 등 소외계층 지원은 물론 환경 정화, 교통안전 등 대국민적 관심이 필요한 각종 영역에서 적극 활동하고 있다.
