고양시 농업기술센터는 지난 17일 병해충 피해 방지를 위한 친환경미생물 BTA 교육을 실시했다고 밝혔다.
교육에는 고양시민 60명이 참여했다.
천연미생물 살충제 BTA균(Bacillus thuringiensis aizawai)은 애벌레가 BTA균이 살포된 잎을 갉아먹으면 곤충의 내장으로 침투해 독소단백질을 분비해 소화중독을 일으켜 사멸시킨다.

농작물의 잎을 갉아먹어 피해를 주는 나비목 해충의 애벌레 제거에 효과가 높으며 사람이나 동물 및 식물 등에는 해가 없다.
고양시 관내 친환경농가는 생산농산물을 군부대와 학교급식에 납품하고 있다.
친환경농산물 생산 농가는 해충 발생시 친환경농자재를 사용할 수밖에 없어 많은 비용부담과 물리적 방제로 인한 인력난을 겪어왔다.
이에 시는 미생물을 공급받고 있는 농업인을 대상으로 수요조사를 실시하고 BTA제 공급을 결정했다.
고양시는 농가 부담을 줄일 수 있도록 미생물 살충제(BTA제)를 확대 공급할 예정이다.
농업기술센터 관계자는 “친환경농업을 확대하고 안전한 농.축산물 생산을 위해 미생물제제 공급과 다양한 친환경사업에 주력할 것”이며 “농업인의 고충해결을 위해 적극적으로 노력하겠다”고 전했다.
한편 고양시는 친환경농업 확대를 위해 유산균, 광합성균, 고초균, BTA균을 생산하여 축산농가와 경종농가에 무료로 보급하고 있다. 고양=박정호기자
